Over the years, Huangpu Shipbuilding has always remained unshakable and become more and more powerful and innovative as time went by. Thirty years ago and under the reform and opening-up policy, Huangpu Shipbuilding took the lead in the Offshore Engineering market to successfully build the first jack-up drilling platform “Huahai 1” in China and then the drilling platform “Nanhai 2” was successfully repaired. Subsequently, the W10-3 single-point mooring, the W11-4 wellhead platform, and the living modules were built. It is the earlier domestic shipyard in the development of offshore petroleum platform and well-experienced in building petroleum platforms.
In the early decade of the new century, Huangpu Shipbuilding has especially witnessed the rapidest development with outstanding achievements and leapfrog development in shipbuilding capability. The shipbuilding capability can be reached up to ten thousand tons. The production scale has been doubled and one shipyard enlarges to two, as one of the key large-scale shipyards and the Offshore Engineering products building base of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The civil products comprise of three series including public service ship, commercial cargo ship and Offshore Engineering ship. We have successfully built such Offshore Engineering products as small water-plane area twin-hull vessel, 6500 HP electrical propulsion stand-by vessel, 8000 HP oilfield anchor handling tug supply vessel, 8000 kW Salvage Vessel , 14000 kW marine Salvage Vessel, 400t shallow water floating crane and pipe-laying vessel, 50000t semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, 3000m deep-water engineering surveying vessel, and oil recovery vessel etc. We have realized the leapfrog development so that the products range from the small and medium-scale ships to the large-scale ships with high technologies and high value added. As a key Offshore Engineering building base in the South China.

Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel Series

Since 2002, Huangpu Shipbuilding has engaged in Offshore Engineering auxiliary ship market and contracted for building a 6500 HP electrical propulsion stand-by ship for CNOOC. This ship is the first electrical propulsion ship independently developed in China. Its first plating was cut on June 10, 2003 and delivered on August 30, 2004.
This 6500 HP anchor handling tug supply vessel (owned by CNPC), unrestricted navigation area, with overall length of 69.60m, width of 14.80m, depth of 6.90m, displacement 3760 tons, maximum speed 14.5 knots, endurance 8000 nautical miles, and 60 days self-sustaining capacity.
With successful building the M/V “Offshore Petroleum 623”, we have contracted with CNPC and CNOOC for 6500 HP  anchor handling tug supply vessels  and 8000 HP anchor handling tug supply vessels.
The 8000HP anchor handling tug supply vessel is 72.5m long, 15m wide, and 7m in depth, with a speed of 15 knots, an endurance of 7500 nautical miles, and a self-sustaining capacity of 30 days. It is served as a main tug or an accompanying ship for platforms or the other large-scale floating structures at sea, performing tasks such as security guard, rescue, and salvage for a platform or the other offshore structures; supplying material for platform;  handling anchors for platforms and floating cranes. It is designed with Class FiFi-1 fire-fighting capacity and unrestricted navigation area.
In the process of building anchor handling tug supply vessel, we have researched a series of optimization and have been master of critical technologies designing and building a anchor handling tug supply vessel.

Marine Salvage Ship Series

Since the beginning of the new centaury and with rapid growth of Chinese economy, the ocean exploitation and marine transportation have more rapidly developed. In the new century, the Chinese salvage cause has made a quick progress. The Bureau of Rescue and Salvage under the Ministry of Transportation of the People’s Republic of China makes elaborate efforts to establish a 3D rescue and salvage system at sea and in the air under a human-oriented concept in governance. It was imperative to build state-of-the-art marine salvage ships. On April 16, 2004, a contract for the first three 8000 kW rescue and salvage ships were made by and between Huangpu Shipbuilding and the Bureau of Rescue and Salvage, as a preclude building marine rescue ships. Totally fifteen 8000 kW marine salvage ships and one 14000 kW marine salvage ship have been built for the Bureau of Rescue and Salvage by Huangpu Shipbuilding. And, the sequential two 14000 kW marine salvage ships are under building now. Huangpu Shipbuilding has become a major base building marine salvage ships in China.
